The French Connection (1971), a crime thriller that garnered five Academy Award nominations and won five of them, including Best Picture and Best Director, is one of his best-known films. It also received nominations. His other notable works include the classic horror film The Exorcist (1973), which also received nominations.

His significant productions include “To Live and Die in L.A. (1985), The Boys in the Band (1970), Sorcerer (1977), The Brink’s Job (1978), Cruising (1980), Bug (2006), and Killer Joe (2011).” Friedkin attended Chicago public schools and received his diploma when he was 16 years old. During his teenage years, he developed a love of movies, with Citizen Kane having a big impact.
