Parents rage over 92-inch teddy bear: 'Horrible dust collector'

This holiday gift is unbear-able.
Parents hoping that a pricey 92-inch plush teddy bear would make a great gift are bear-y unhappy with the giant stuffed animal, which they said has become a “horrible dust collector.”
The “Jumbo Plush Bear,” a part of the FAO Schwarz toy line and originally priced at $750, has been described as “perfect for cuddling.”
“This bear will make a statement and will bring joy to your children and the entire family,” the toymaker wrote about the bear, which measures over 7½ feet tall, over 6 feet long and 5 feet wide.
But soon after purchasing, several parents made the grisly discovery that the plush toy is “horrible,” impossible to store and collects dust faster than a vacuum, the Daily Mail reported.
“Only your worst enemy would give you this as a gift,” slammed one parent in an Australian-based Facebook group Markdown Addicts Australia.
“You buy this for my kid and I’ll gift your child slime every birthday and Christmas until you beg for forgiveness,” said another parent.
“And where would you store that dust collector,” another chided about the bear, which has been marked down to $563 on the FAO Schwarz website.
Much of the parents’ rage is fueled by the stuffed bear’s price tag, which normally sells for $999 with a $250 delivery fee on Target’s Australian site. It’s currently marked down to $300 with the same shipping cost.
One commenter said they “wouldn’t even want it if it was free,” while another said that they felt sorry for any delivery person who had to carry the monstrosity.
“Who is spending $1,000 on a teddy though? I couldn’t even justify $300, or $100 for that matter,” slammed one person.
One Los Angeles-area buyer is even selling it on eBay for $300, writing that the bear has been “sitting in our guest room for some time.”
While still available at FAO Schwarz, the bear doesn’t appear to be sold at Target stores in the US. However, there’s a similar stuffed animal, the “Manhattan Toy Kodiak Bear Jumbo Plush Toy,” which retails for $470.
Despite all the negative comments, one user who purchased the “Jumbo Plush Bear” said they loved it.
“Bear-y fun! This is a fantastic oversized novelty,” one purchaser wrote on the Target product page. “It is huge! Great quality and as advertised.”
An FAO Schwarz shopper dubbed it the “greatest stuffed animal gift” in a glowing review. “Lots of laughs as the sender and lots of love from the receiver,” they wrote. “The child loved it and the parents had to find a spot where to place it. Overall Great! Keep making them BIGGER AND BIGGER!”
FAO Schwarz isn’t the only company bearing down on the massive plush toy market. Costco recently released its own 93-inch bear — which costs around $400.
However, one member of the Markdown Addicts Australia group is worried this plush bear craze will cause landfills to be filled quickly.
“Sick of seeing giant stuffed toys put out for council clean up,” they wrote. “Future landfill.”
